Confusion breaks through Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant in between Indian innings

The decision of sending Hardik Pandya above Rishabh Pant created confusion between the two batters while the Indian innings was going on.

India took on Sri Lanka in the second match of the super 4 stage after facing a defeat against the arch-rival Pakistan. India was put into bat first. The Lankan bowlers were spot on in their plans and got 2 early wickets of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.

Rohit Sharma tried to counterattack to release the pressure and was even successful. His partnership with Suryakumar Yadav put the pressure back on Sri Lanka. Rohit smashed 72 runs in just 41 balls.

After the third wicket fell, a sudden moment of confusion broke through the Indian innings. Pant was getting ready to step into the field but the management decided to send Hardik ahead of the lefty. This created confusion between those two. Hardik asked once again to be confirmed. After getting confirmation the dashing all-rounder put on the helmet and took the field.

Though this switch of the batting order didn't help much as both the better got dismissed on 17(13). India posted a total of 173/8 in their 20 overs.

Sri Lanka got off to a great start in their chase, with their openers stitching a 97-run partnership to all but take the game away from India.

The spinners of team India tried to turn the table in India's favour but an unbeaten 64 runs partnership for the fifth wicket between captain Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa took the island country over the victory line.
